Music

I'm a father of 6 month old twins and an on-hold hobby musician on the side. Since the birth of my boys, I've played one show w/ my band, but have found that my musical feelings have been evolving. I now feel like playing more sounds of animals, trains and everyday noises. At the same time a creeky door to my musical memory has opened up a hodge podge of old tunes from high school choir, Sunday school hymns, Xmas tunes and classical piano pieces my sister used to play. It seems that many of these melodies engage my kids to focus and sometimes even alleviate hiccups.

As Shakeshpeare wrote "If Music be the food of love, play on," here are some of my boys favorite tunes that have been sung, hummed or howled to them:

Werewolves of London
Sweet Child of Mine
New Soul
1234
My Favorite Things (my sis sings this to them)
The Entertainer
Flight of the Bumblebees
Tooty Fruity
Baby you can drive my car
I Feel good

Anyone else have some good melodies that you've sung to your kids?

Re: Music

right now, we're singing the OSCAR MEYER B-O-L-O-G-N-A song :))

I have also always sung, "Three Little Birds," fr Bob Marley, bc I like sending the message to my girls that things will be fine...

Other songs include:

What's the World Got in Store--Wilco
My Own Two Hands--Jack Johnson
In My Life---Beatles
Blackbird--Beatles
Everyday--DMB

Re: Music

I hit the Beatles pretty hard - 8 Days a Week, Love Me Do, Yellow Submarine all seem to do the job!
